It is already known fact that STAR India TV Networks, a unit of 21st Century Fox have taken over the popular Telugu TV channel Maa TV and an MOU has been signed between both in this deal. It is said that the deal for Maa TV takeover for about 2500 crores, which is a big deal in Telugu TV channel sales. Recently the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) of India has approved clearance for this deal and Star India TV Networks are getting ready to complete the deal by paying its owners.
Nimmagadda Prasad, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna hold the major share in Maa TV and let us see who is getting how much in this deal. Out of the total shares Nimmagadda Prasad holds 65% shares, while Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and others hold 20%, 10% and 5% respectively. So out of 2500 crores Nimmagadda Prasad, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna gets 1625 crores, 500 crores and 250 crores each.
Launched in early 2002 by Murali Krishnam Raju, Maa TV gradually became one of the popular TV channels in Telugu by acquiring satellite rights of popular movies. Later the channel was taken over by Nimmagadda Prasadand and it became one of the top Telugu TV channels now.
